National short track speedskater Kim Gilli has won the women's 1500 m in the season-opening event of the International Skating Union's (ISU) 2024-25 Short Track World Tour.

Kim on Oct. 27 earned the gold medal with a time of 2:24.396 in the final at Maurice Richard Arena in Montreal, Canada, beating runner-up Hanne Desmet of Belgium.

In the same race, Korea's Choi Min Jeong won the bronze with 2:24.51.

Also in Canada, figure skater Cha Jun Hwan in Halifax, Nova Scotia, won the men's bronze at Skate Canada International, the second competition of the ISU's 2024-25 Grand Prix of Figure Skating with a score of 260.31, just missing out on the silver by 0.85 of a point.
